BIO

Tanya King is an anthropologist and political ecologist interested in issues relating to natural resource management creation and implementation, and the impact on communities of resource stakeholders. Her work has focused on the dentities, livelihoods, health, knowledge and experiences of Australian commercial wild-catch fishers. She also works on perceptions of alternative potable water supplies, the designation and 'valuation' of natural spaces, questions of pedagogy relevant to anthropology, gender, and rural identities. She champions a public-facing scholarship, maintaining strong relationships with industry, the media and government, and extending her findings in the form of research reports, industry publications, print, television and radio pieces, as well as art, Non-Traditional Research Outputs and high quality academic publications. She maintains a strong interest in research and scholarship in teaching and learning. She promotes an engaged classroom experience, winning multiple teaching awards for innovative approaches to pedagogy. She enjoys collaborating with students in research data collection and publications, as well as bespoke Work Integrated Learning projects that embed students in industry.
