TEACHING EXPERTISE

My approach creates a transforming learning experience for students and prepares them to become leaders in the Built Environment.  My teaching philosophy is student-centred and embodies my desire to motivate and inspire students towards acquiring knowledge, building confidence and resilience in order to become life-long learners and future-ready graduates. My focus and passion is to get students excited about Sustainable Futures. My approach entails delivery of personalised and accessible education while nurturing a transforming learning experience for students.

I believe that students learn technical concepts through hands-on activities and interactions with teachers and peers. Building mutual trust and respect is crucial for creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable to participate and engage in discussions. I am committed to supporting learner's needs; achieving high impact scholarly activities, and delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

My teaching innovations includes mapping the implementation process of constructive alignment using a hybrid approach and annotating the key strengths and constraints for an institutional context. More recently, I have embraced digital tools in the delivery of courses and developed Australia’s first On-Demand Course in LCA, and complementary Taster course (FOC) to broaden the opportunities for accessing knowledge on Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment.

Over my 15-year teaching career, my taught subjects include:

  • Building Materials Science
  • Life Cycle Assessment,
  • Sustainable Technology
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Building Systems and Environment
  • Risk Analysis and Management
  • Construction Economics,
  • Construction Management,
  • Construction Finance
  • Building Development and Appraisal
  • Property Macroeconomics
