DrSimon Vajda

Dr Simon Vajda is an Associate Research Fellow with Deakin University's Applied Artificial Intelligence Initiative. His research combines human–AI interaction, task analysis and research engineering, examining how people can direct, inspect and correct AI-supported work.

His doctoral research, conducted with Defence Science and Technology Group, developed a model-driven method for describing expert work and identifying appropriate tasks for automation. His current research extends this work to allocating decisions across people, language models and deterministic tools. It includes a public Python runtime, a computational study and a Research Square preprint under review at Cognition, Technology & Work.

Simon develops research software, simulation studies and interfaces for human review. He also contributes to clinical AI evidence synthesis and interdisciplinary research proposals, and supervises and mentors student researchers. His work spans Defence simulation, health, disability services and energy systems.
