RESEARCH INTERESTS

RESEARCH OVERVIEW

My research is centred on the intricacies of delivering large-scale and complex infrastructure projects, examining capital and operational costs, project adaptability, procurement and contracting practices, the social impacts of capital projects, client capability for effective project delivery, and the nuanced needs of end-users. His scholarly contributions significantly advance the fields of construction cost overrun, future-proofing infrastructure, front-end project governance, and client capabilities for cost-effective asset procurement.

 

I am currently in the position of Associate Head of School (Research) in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Deakin University. 

 

My research is conducted in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the Deakin Megaprojects Research Group. See our website: https://megaprojects.deakin.edu.au


MY RESEARCH ETHOS:

A fundamental ethos of my research is to enhance the delivery of major infrastructure projects by equipping decision-makers with robust, evidence-based insights crucial for strategic infrastructure planning, management, and delivery. I typically employ a critical design thinking research approach, fostering innovative and effective solutions to multifaceted challenges. 

 

CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS:

My broad research interests encompass major project cost overruns, megaproject appraisal and delivery, major infrastructure procurement and contracting, front-end governance, client capabilities improvement, best-for-project contracting, net-zero infrastructure and project risk management.
