RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research focuses on improving the mental health, wellbeing, and developmental outcomes of children and young people through the prevention of violence and the evaluation of evidence-based interventions. Drawing on developmental and cross-cultural psychology, I apply prevention science to understand how violence and disadvantage shape young people's lives and how evidence-based interventions can reduce harm and foster positive youth development.
One research stream focuses domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV), particularly intimate partner violence as it relates to children and young people, such as children and young people's exposure to interparental violence and young people's experiences of cyber dating abuse. This research examines psychosocial risk and protective factors, mental health outcomes, help-seeking behaviour, and the influence of migration, culture, and broader sociocultural factors on experiences of DFSV and recovery.
A complementary research stream focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions, particularly school- and community-based approaches that foster positive youth development through promoting mental health and wellbeing, strengthening family-school partnerships, and reducing DFSV-related harms. This research seeks to identify effective and scalable interventions that improve outcomes for children and young people.
