TEACHING EXPERTISE

Shaun Mason’s teaching practice is characterised by a student-centred, evidence-based approach that integrates innovation in curriculum design, assessment, and learner support across undergraduate and postgraduate education. He has demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching, having unit-chaired extensively across numerous nutrition and physiology units with consistently high student satisfaction, reflecting strong alignment between teaching practice and student learning outcomes.  He has led major curriculum innovations, including the transition of units to blended and interactive formats, the integration of case-based and problem-focused learning, and the development of interactive oral assessments aligned with contemporary assessment standards. 


He is currently the course director for postgraduate human nutrition courses, in which he provides leadership in curriculum delivery and student development, supporting learners through personalised academic and career guidance. 

 

He also contributes to teaching leadership and capacity building, mentoring academic staff, supporting transition into teaching roles, and leading teaching development initiatives within the School.
