TEACHING EXPERTISE

Teaching in contemporary architectural history, theory and criticism is informed by research into the same field, effectively creating a strong teaching-research nexus. I have learned the value of diverse teaching and learning approaches, having taught at multiple universities (Deakin, UQ, Griffith), in a variety of units—H&T, research and design at bachelor and master levels, in ‘normal’, pandemic, and post-pandemic environment. As one of the academics in the School of A+B to teach across multiple streams (H&T, design, and research), my strength is in supporting students to integrate and apply knowledge across these areas. This knowledge has been brought into co-developing a new research unit Reading Architecture (2019) as a part of major revisions of Masters course, which proposed integrated assessments across design and research units. I demonstrate excellence and leadership in innovative teaching and learning approaches, evidenced in successful revisions of the history and theory units and curriculum, and in all units I teach.
