RESEARCH INTERESTS
I conduct theoretical and empirical research and am particularly interested in the intersection and relationship between history and interculturality, relational uncertainty and racism in teaching practice, neoliberalism and academic well-being. My research falls within the following domains: 1) curriculum and pedagogy; 2) theories in educational research; 3) curriculum policy. I have a particular focus on, how students and educators value History and Humanities disciplines in schools, the status of History discipline in Australian schools, history curriculum policy, and exploring multiperspectivity and diversity in teaching, learning and assessment practices.
I have a diverse track record of research projects that investigate and address curriculum making, decolonisation of history curricula, racism in schools, and collaborative biography of well-being in academia.
My methodological approach integrates discourse and thematic analysis, theoretical framing of historical thinking and consciousness, curriculum inquiry. I also lead interdisciplinary projects to develop high-quality online professional learning for pre/teachers, drawing on research in inclusive, cultural and intercultural education. Specifically, this work addresses relational and pedagogical uncertainty in schools, including responses to racism, and engages with scholarly debates on digital resources and professional learning within contemporary teaching contexts.
I am the coordinator of the Education Research Pathways Units provided in the School of Education and actively engage in supervising students from these units and Higher Degree Research students, bringing a research evidence-based, collaborative approach to supporting student learning and progress.
