RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research addresses the ways individuals and groups use historical narratives for personal and political ends. Most of my publishing and teaching has been in United States history with an emphasis on African American life and culture. Recently, I have also turned my attention to transpacific and Australian histories of forced labour and its legacies.
