BIO
I am an evolutionary geneticist with a broad skillset and strong focus on understanding molecular mechanisms and genomic diversity underpinning an array of environmental and conservation challenges faced by organisms undergoing rapid climate and habitat shifts. I lead a program studying species distribution limiting traits such as desiccation resistance, thermal tolerance, traits under spatially varying selection, short term responses such as phenotypic plasticity to counter climatic stress, and the fundamental contribution of sex to phenotypic/genomic diversity and stress resistance, pathogens and cancer. I also work collaboratively and have diversified from natural Drosophila into marsupials and cetacean species conservation at Deakin.
