DrMd Mizanur Rashid

Dr Md Mizanur Rashid is a Bangladeshi-Australian architect and academic, registered in Bangladesh and an International Associate of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Deakin University, Geelong, and holds a PhD in Architecture (History and Theory) from the National University of Singapore.

Dr Rashid’s research integrates architectural history, digital design, and heritage documentation, with a particular focus on historical narratives, diasporic architecture, and the tangible and intangible dimensions of cultural heritage. His work combines historical analysis with digital modelling, visualisation, and 4D documentation, including virtual and augmented reality, to interpret lost, partially lost, and historic buildings within their broader geographical, social, and cultural contexts.

He is a founding member and Deputy Director of the Architecture Vacancy Research Lab at Deakin University and a founding executive committee member of the ICOMOS National Committee of Bangladesh. His research has been published extensively in the fields of digital heritage, diasporic cultures of dwelling, and architecture in multicultural Australia. He has also contributed to nationally competitive research projects and maintains an active program of international research and community engagement.

Dr Rashid’s professional and community practice includes pro bono architectural consultancy for minority communities in Australia. He currently serves as an Architectural Design Consultant for the Wagga Wagga Islamic Community Centre and Geelong Buddhist Monastery.
