TEACHING EXPERTISE
The Business Development Clinic (BDC) at Deakin Business School is an innovative program designed to bridge the gap between academic theories and real-world business challenges. As an integral part of our Work-Integrated Learning initiatives, the BDC provides students with a unique opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in practical settings. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, lead byPete Williams, students work in teams to tackle genuine business problems presented by partnering organisations, ranging from local startups to established multinational corporations.
At the core of the BDC experience is the application of the 7 Levers Framework, a strategic tool developed to systematically enhance business performance. This framework encourages students to analyse and optimise different aspects of a business, from customer acquisition to profit margin improvement. By engaging with this framework, students not only contribute to the growth and efficiency of partnering businesses but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills that are essential for their future careers in business.
The BDC serves as an unofficial capstone to the educational journey at Deakin Business School, allowing students to consolidate and reflect on their learning in a real-world context. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates are not only well-versed in theory but are also prepared to tackle the complexities of the business world, equipped with practical skills and a thorough understanding of business dynamics. The program exemplifies Deakin’s commitment to fostering educational excellence and innovation, preparing students to become the next generation of business leaders.
