BIO

Kate Sievert is an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE). Her research focuses on the political economy of global food systems, examining how power and influence shape food governance and corporate activities in areas such as industrial meat, fast food, ultra-processed foods, and infant formula, both in Australia and internationally. Kate's work spans academic research and policy development, including drafting position statements, policy briefs, and technical papers for the World Health Organization in Geneva and the Public Health Association of Australia. Kate is also a co-founder and sitting president of the advocacy organisation, Healthy Food Systems Australia.

She received her PhD from the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University, examining the political economy of red and processed meat reduction globally. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) and a Master of Public Health from Monash University.
