TEACHING EXPERTISE

Cassandra is the campus co-ordinator for the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education degree (E377), Waurn Ponds campus.

Dr. Cassandra Iannucci is an award-winning educator at Deakin University, where she specializes in the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education teacher education program. Her teaching philosophy is anchored in fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments that emphasize student voice, agency, and democratic practices. Cassandra is dedicated to preparing future educators who are not only skilled in their disciplines but also committed to fostering social and emotional development in their students.

With a rich background in teaching across various educational contexts, including K-12 settings in Canadian primary and secondary schools, Cassandra brings a diverse and comprehensive perspective to her teaching. Her international experience, including her tenure as a lecturer at the University of Limerick in Ireland, informs her approach to education, blending global best practices with innovative teaching strategies.

At Deakin University, Cassandra’s courses are characterized by their focus on social justice, connection, and relationships. She integrates social and emotional learning (SEL) into her curriculum, ensuring that her students are equipped to create emotionally supportive and socially equitable classrooms. Her commitment to these principles extends beyond the classroom, as she actively engages in initiatives that promote democratic engagement and collaborative partnerships between students and educators.

As the Academic Lead of the Equity-First Students as Partners portfolio within the Office of the Dean of Students, Cassandra continues to champion the importance of student-centred learning and the transformative power of education grounded in equity and inclusivity.
