BIO
I graduated as an optometrist from Deakin University in 2021 and began my career at the Australian College of Optometry, where I worked as a Graduate Optometrist at Wyndham Eyecare. During this time, I developed a strong interest in paediatric optometry and completed my Advanced Certificate in Children's Vision. I also stepped into a leadership role as Deputy Practice Manager of Wyndham Eyecare.
In 2023, I joined Deakin University's School of Medicine (Optometry) as an Associate Lecturer & research fellow, where I was responsible for leading a core first-year subject (Ocular Function) within the Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry Program (unit chair for 2023 and 2024), whilst also engaging in research on colour perception in aviation.
A unique opportunity in optometric policy & advocacy was presented in late 2024, where I joined Optometry Australia (the national Peak Body for Australian optometrists) as an Optometry Advancement Officer. My key responsibilities included policy analysis and development, national consultation and sector engagement, stakeholder coordination, and leading the organisation's Digital Health portfolio. I also contributed to several First Nations health equity initiatives across governance, strategy, and policy through Optometry Australia's First Nations Portfolio. Concurrently, I continued teaching at Deakin University (as a Teaching Fellow in Optometric Practice), contributing one day per fortnight to optics, anatomy and clinical skills practical sessions.
My PhD studies at The University of Melbourne commenced in April 2025, exploring ocular biomarkers in eating disorders. My research aims to elucidate the neural underpinnings of eating disorders through biomarkers. I stepped into a full time position at Deakin University in June 2026 as a Lecturer in Optometry and Vision Science (School of Medicine). In this role, I lead the paediatric optometry curriculum and serve as the Unit Chair for HMO305 (Health and Vision Sciences 3).
