BIO
Jacqui Macdonald, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology whose research interests include fatherhood, perinatal mental health, men’s mental health and health system access, and intergenerational influences on parents and young families. Her research draws on longitudinal studies of development across the lifespan with a particular focus on lifecourse trajectories of boys to fathers. She co-leads Lifecourse Sciences within the Deakin Lifespan Institute and leads the Men and Parenting Pathways (MAPP) longitudinal study that investigates men’s mental health and wellbeing and how it affects and is affected by family life. She heads an Australian Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) project, 1 in 10 men: Informing prevention of and treatment for paternal mental health problems and is founder and convenor of the Australian Fatherhood Research Consortium. A/Prof Macdonald is on the Global Men's Health Advisory Committee to the world’s leading men’s health charity, Movember. She is a member of the Reducing Male Suicide research excellence cluster at the University of British Columbia, a founding member of the Australian Men's and Boys Health Alliance (AMBHA), a scientific advisor to the Australian Longitudinal Study of Male Health, Ten to Men, and a fellow of the Intergenerational Cohort Consortium.
