BIO

Dr Kerrie Saville is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management in Deakin Business School. Kerrie's areas of expertise are in the employment relations field, with a particular emphasis on trade union structure; delegate participation in the negotiation of wages and conditions; and IR legislative reform. Up until 2023 she held various positions within the National Tertiary Education Union, which ranged from National Councillor, Vice President (Academic) of the Victorian Division to President of the Deakin University Branch. Each of these positions saw her take a leadership role in the trade union representing higher education workers in Australia, in addition to which she represented their collective interests in enterprise bargaining processes, and their individual interests through member advocacy. She maintains her involvement with the National Tertiary Education Union today as one of its nominated representatives on the South West Trades and Labour Council. She currently represents her colleagues in her role as a Workplace Health & Safety Representative, and as a member of various health, safety and employee well-being committees.

Additional areas of expertise, which stems from her years of teaching experience in the Human Resource Management (HRM) and Management disciplines are the impact of technology on student engagement, student academic integrity, and the expectations and experiences of HRM students and graduates. In addition to which she has an interest in the 'darkside of HRM' and its implications for practitioners.
