DrKirsty McCann

I am a Research Fellow in Professor Alyssa Barry's lab at Deakin University, Health Education and Research Building (HERB) in Geelong Victoria and part of the Institute for Physical and Mental Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT) and the Centre for Innovation in Infectious Disease and Immunology Research (CIIDIR).

My research focus is to use genetics and population genomics to understand malaria parasite transmission and diversity across malaria endemic countries including Papua New Guinea, Cambodia and Africa. As a bioinformatician, I have expertise in big data analysis and complex population analyses to explore malaria epidemiology.

I am passionate about capacity building in malaria endemic countries, bioinformatics training and producing high quality data.
