RESEARCH INTERESTS
Generally speaking, I am fascinated with infectious diseases. Particularly, malaria and covid. I'm very interested in bioinformatics and providing more streamed lined methods to analysis datasets. I am also very interested in the many ways you can use the same dataset to answer different research questions to improve the health of individuals or improve parasite and disease surveillance.
Currently, I am working on:
1. Transmission decline of Plasmodium falciparum is associated with genome-wide reduction in diversity in a hyperendemic area of Papua New Guinea using whole genome sequences.
2. Population genetic signatures of Plasmodium falciparum transmission decline and rebound in a hyperendemic area of Papua New Guinea using SNP barcodes.
3. Malaria parasite transmission and drug resistance in Cambodia using whole genome sequences.
4. A network for imported malaria to Australia: strengthening malaria research and global surveillance.
5. Artificial Intelligence-based drug resistance screening of malaria parasites using ‘Read Until’.
