BIO

Dr Murtaza Panhwar is the Coordinator of Technical Services at Deakin University's Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM). Based at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, Murtaza orchestrates the daily operational readiness, laboratory governance, and safety frameworks of IFM's advanced research facilities.
With over a decade of international experience spanning chemical engineering, electrochemistry, and advanced materials, he plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-impact research. Murtaza manages the execution of institutional hazard and risk assessments, reviews and issues chemical safety approvals for research projects, and authors Standard Working Procedures (SWPs) to maintain the highest levels of laboratory compliance.
He drives strategic laboratory procurement and vendor relationships for capital asset acquisitions, ensuring the continuous modernization of IFM’s research infrastructure. Murtaza holds a PhD in Thermo-Electro Chemistry from IFM, Deakin University and a joint European Master of Science (MESC) through the Erasmus Mundus program.
