BIO

Dr Ria Rushin Joseph is a Lecturer in Emerging Technology and Quantum Computing at Deakin University. She is a theoretical quantum physicist working in quantum technologies, quantum simulation, quantum sensing, quantum optics, phase-space methods, distributed quantum computing and mathematical modelling of complex quantum systems. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical physics at Swinburne University of Technology under Professor Peter D. Drummond and received the Victoria India Doctoral Scholarship in 2015. She was the University topper in Physics at the University of Calicut, India, securing 98 percent, and was a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering scholar. At Deakin, Dr Joseph is building quantum technologies capability through research, curriculum development, supervision, and external partnerships. Her recent work includes Australian Army Research Scheme-funded quantum sensing research, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation Data61 collaboration in distributed quantum computing, Indian Institute of Technology linked Doctor of Philosophy projects, and Deakin’s first quantum computing microcredential.
