BIO

Associate Professor Daniel Avdic is a health economist and applied econometrician at the Department of Economics, Deakin University. He holds a PhD from Uppsala University in Sweden and worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics, Monash University prior to joining Deakin. Daniel's research interests comprise topics relating to health system efficiency and the behaviour of healthcare providers. Daniel's research has appeared in leading general interest economics journals, including the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy and the European Economic Review, and top field journals, such as the Journal of Health Economics, Labour Economics and the Journal of Applied Econometrics. He was recently awarded a three-year Discovery grant from the Australian Research Council to work on a research project on physician preferences for medical innovations.
