BIO

I am currently doing my PhD in anthropology, for which I am researching global food waste management with a case study in Jaipur, India.

I am from the United States and have been through multiple years of food insecurity and homelessness myself and have also done much volunteer work there involving basic needs such as food, shelter, transportation, and healthcare. Especially knowing I and others like me couldn't afford to even eat every day, it always disgusted me to see people throwing away perfectly good food. But the problem is a huge global issue, not just personal or individual habits and beliefs. And it manifests all over the world, sometimes in different ways. For this reason, I wanted to study it as anthropological research. I am looking at political economy that leads to food waste, intervention strategies, and various factors that contribute to and mitigate food waste.
