RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr Shapiro leads impactful research developing, evaluating, and implementing interventions for children with persisting symptoms post concussion. His projects include the Concussion Essentials randomised control trial, the development of a dedicated concussion clinic within the Royal Children's Hospital, development of the Concussion Essentials App (https://www.concussionessentials.com/), and a national implementation study investigating key barriers and facilitators to develop similar concussion clinics across Australia (MRFF Traumatic Brain Injury Mission 2024). Dr Shapiro also leads the Steps to Confident Parenting evaluation project, assessing the efficacy of a parenting intervention for parets with an intellectual diability (BCYF 2022), and contributes to the development of predictive tools to guide intervention selection following neonatal stroke (NHMRC Ideas 2022).

 

He is interested in projects that increase the effectiveness and accessibility of neuropsychologically informed clinical care.
