BIO

Professor Peter Butterworth is a research-intensive academic in the Deakin Lifespan Institute based in the School of Psychology at Deakin University. He is co-lead of the Lifecourse Sciences theme. Peter also holds an honorary professorial appointment at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. Prior to joining Deakin, Peter held Professorial appointments at the ANU and the University of Melbourne. 

 

Peter’s academic background is in psychology and biostatistics. He has a PhD (psychology) and BA (Hons) from the University of Queensland, and a MBiostats from the University of Sydney.  Peter also worked for several years in research, evaluation and policy development roles within the Commonwealth public service in areas pertaining to employment, disability and income support.
