TEACHING EXPERTISE

I teach across undergraduate and postgraduate computer science and cyber security units at Deakin, with current and recent responsibilities including SIT111 Computer Systems, SIT182 Real World Practices in Cyber Security, SIT771 Object-Oriented Development, and SIT284/763 Cyber Security Management. My teaching approach is strongly student-centred, with an emphasis on maintaining an active online presence through Teams, OnTrack, and regular communication so students. I also make technically challenging material more accessible through guided demonstrations, including “code with me” activities where students follow along on their own machines, and through digital engagement tools such as Mentimeter that encourage students to think, respond, and participate rather than remain passive listeners.

In my course leadership role, I focus on improving student experience and curriculum quality across the Cyber Security course suite. This includes leading unit renewal activities, supporting teaching teams in OnTrack-based feedback practices, contributing to first-year student success initiatives, and providing academic leadership for the Deakin–Lancaster Indonesia partnership. I am also developing GenAI-enabled assessment approaches that support authentic learning, assurance of learning, and AI literacy.

Prior to joining Deakin, I taught a broad range of university-level computer science and cyber security subjects, including cryptography, information security, algorithms, programming, data structures, and database design. I have also delivered professional blockchain training to industry and STEM workshops for schoolchildren.
