BIO

Anna Xavier is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Deakin CREATE, where she leads initiatives in refugee education, employment, and integration. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of New South Wales, with research focused on educational support for refugee-background students in regional Australia. Anna has worked extensively with Sri Lankan, Rohingya (Malaysia), and Ezidi (Australia) communities, with a focus on socially just education in fragile and marginalised contexts. Her current research explores pathways to decent and meaningful employment for people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds. She has led national career clinics and collaborates with universities, NGOs, and community groups to shape inclusive and culturally responsive education and employment practices. Her interdisciplinary work spans refugee education, inclusive pedagogy, higher education, and educational access for culturally and linguistically marginalised (CALM) communities.
