DrJennifer Ann Lajom

Jennifer Ann L. Lajom is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management from the Department of Management, Deakin Business School. Jen received a PhD in Business from the Australian National University, and holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in psychology. Prior to her current appointment, she held teaching and research roles at Edith Cowan University (Perth), the Australian National University (Canberra), and De La Salle University (Philippines).

Jen studies individuals’ meaningful work experiences and how these can inform organisations in shaping adaptive work practices that benefits its employees. With a focus on passionate employees, her research explores why job passion is not as auspicious as contemporary press portrays—illustrating how such passionate drive can either make or break employees’ job performance, discretionary behaviours, recovery experiences, and psychological well-being.  Jen also investigates effective management of one’s work and family space in nurturing employee well-being, as well as supports and barriers in managing non-traditional work environments.  Her research has been published in reputable management journals (A* and A-ranked in ABDC list) such as Human Relations, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Career Assessment, Stress and Health, and Personality and Individual Differences. She utlises quantitative and qualitative research methods and has also shared her research expertise in various academic and professional engagements.
