BIO

Dr Asher Winter is Associate Research Fellow in Mechatronics Systems Simulation and Optimisation at the Deakin Institute for Intelligent Systems, specialising in mathematical modelling, control, simulation, and optimisation of complex engineering systems. His research delivers engineering solutions that expand human capability, improve training outcomes, and enhance the safety and reliability of systems people depend on.

Dr Winter's research spans intelligent systems applications across robotics, biomechanics, and human motion simulation. He has contributed to externally funded projects spanning defence, transport, and communications. He has led experimental research with the Australian Department of Defence, delivered biomechanics analysis for transport industry partners, and developed simulation tools and led field research programs funded by the Australian federal government. He has been featured in The Australian Research Magazine, the Geelong Advertiser, and Deakin Research News.

Dr Winter supervises mechatronics honours students and has contributed to undergraduate teaching in mechatronics and electrical systems engineering.
