DrNajmeh Davoodian

Dr Davoodian is an early-career clinical epidemiologist and Associate Research Fellow at Deakin University’s Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT), with a multidisciplinary background spanning clinical medicine, epidemiology, and biostatistics.

Najmeh is an overseas-trained, board-certified Internal Medicine specialist physician with substantial experience as a consultant physician, academic clinician and clinical researcher. Her combined clinical and quantitative expertise enables her to address complex health questions at the intersection of physical and mental health using large-scale population, cohort and real-world health data.

Najmeh completed her PhD at Deakin University in 2026. Her PhD strengthened her expertise in advanced epidemiological methods, biostatistics, longitudinal data analysis, causal inference and large-scale international research. Her PhD achievements were recognised through multiple competitive awards, including the Faculty of Health Outstanding Thesis Award, Best PhD Completion Award, Best Publication of 2025 award for her publication in The Lancet Global Health journal, several Best Publication and Outstanding Publication Awards, the Cardiovascular Research Network Best Publication Award, and the Excellence in International Engagement Award. Her research also attracted substantial academic and media attention and contributed to international research collaborations and competitive funding.

Before commencing her PhD, Najmeh worked as a consultant physician in Internal Medicine and held several academic, clinical and research leadership roles, including Head of the Internal Medicine Department, Deputy Head of Research and Education, Head of the Clinical Research Development Unit, and member of the founding boards of the Infectious Disease Research Centre and Brucellosis Research Centre. She also served as Chief Resident during specialist training and has extensive experience in clinical research, research governance, medical education, supervision and mentoring.

Her current research focuses on cardiometabolic and mental health epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, causal inference and real-world evidence, with the overarching aim of generating clinically meaningful evidence to improve prevention, treatment decisions and long-term health outcomes.
