BIO
Kashfia Rahman Oyshei is a PhD researcher in the School of Engineering at Deakin University, Australia. She commenced her doctoral studies in 2024 through the joint PhD program between Deakin University and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). She completed her bachelor’s degree at the Islamic University of Technology, where she studied from 2019 to 2023 and graduated in 2023.
Her research interests encompass renewable energy, energy markets and energy storage, with a particular focus on peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading. Her doctoral research investigates how consumers and prosumers can trade locally generated renewable energy through efficient, equitable and privacy-preserving market mechanisms. This includes assessing market-clearing prices, developing and evaluating energy-sharing strategies, maximizing social welfare, and analysing participants’ economic benefits and profits. Her work also explores privacy protection in energy trading, aiming to support market participation while safeguarding sensitive participant information. Through this research, she seeks to contribute to sustainable, decentralized energy markets that balance economic efficiency, fair energy allocation and participant privacy.
Alongside her doctoral studies, Kashfia worked as a research assistant in 2025 and a teaching assistant in 2026, contributing to research and student learning. She also participated in an energy-marketing-related program offered by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s national science agency. This experience broadened her understanding of research commercialisation, stakeholder needs and the potential market applications of energy innovations. It also helped her consider how research in peer-to-peer energy trading can address practical challenges and create value for energy consumers, prosumers and the wider energy sector.
