BIO

Dr Nasreen Fathima is a cybersecurity researcher and educator specialising in artificial intelligence-driven network intrusion detection. She completed her Joint PhD/Cotutelle research at Deakin University and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), with a thesis titled Resilient AI-Driven Network Intrusion Detection System for Emerging Threats.

Her research focuses on developing adaptive and intelligent security systems capable of detecting evolving, zero-day and previously unseen cyberattacks. Her work combines deep learning, anomaly detection, continual learning and temporal traffic analysis to improve the resilience of network intrusion detection systems in dynamic environments.

Before commencing her doctoral research, Nasreen worked as a DevOps Engineer and Research Associate, gaining experience in cloud computing, Linux, AWS, Docker, Jenkins, network security and machine learning. She is also involved in teaching and assessing cybersecurity and digital forensics units at Deakin University.
