BIO
Consistently recognised among the world's top 2% of scientists for citation impact in the Stanford/Elsevier rankings, I joined Deakin University in 2025 and am based at the Waurn Ponds campus.
My research focuses on the intersection of mental and physical health, particularly mental health and suicide prevention in cardiovascular disease (including atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and coronary heart disease), as well as vascular brain health and dementia.
My work combines epidemiology, systematic reviews, clinical research, and evidence synthesis to inform prevention, clinical practice, and healthcare policy. Complementary research examines transdiagnostic psychological processes relevant to primary care, psychiatry, and medically complex presentations, alongside behavioural and environmental influences on health.
I particularly welcome interdisciplinary collaborations in cardiovascular mental health, suicide prevention, dementia prevention, and evidence-based healthcare, including partnerships across psychology, cardiology, psychiatry, epidemiology, and public health.
