MsTanjima Akter

Tanjima Akter is a PhD candidate in Carbon Fibre and Composites at Carbon Nexus, Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Campus, Geelong, Australia, under the supervision of Associate Professor Claudia Creighton. Professor Claudia’s research focuses on innovative carbon fibre manufacturing, with an emphasis on sustainability and material recovery. She investigates the impact of carbon fibre production processes on fibre morphology and properties, integrating circular economy principles to enhance sustainability.

Tanjima is particularly dedicated to developing Green Carbon Fibre (GCF) as an energy-efficient and cost-effective alternative to conventional carbon fibre. By utilizing low-cost materials, her work aims to reduce energy consumption and production costs while maintaining high-performance characteristics. The resulting GCF has potential applications in packaging, automotive components, and lightweight consumer goods.

Motivated by a strong passion for innovative research and inspired by the exceptional faculty at Deakin University, Tanjima embarked on her doctoral studies in 2025 at the Institute of Frontier Materials. Under the expert guidance of Associate Professor Claudia Creighton as principal supervisor and Associate Research Fellow Dr. Thomas Groetsch as associate supervisor, she is dedicated to advancing sustainable carbon fibre technologies, aiming to contribute to a more environmentally responsible and innovative materials industry.
