RESEARCH INTERESTS

Acquisition and analysis of spatially resolved data to support evidence-based strategies for controlling fishing mortality in temperate ecosystems has been my focus for most of my career. A common theme in my research has been the digital acquisition of data and objective model-based data analysis to produce stock status assessments which can inform decisions about future management strategies. Recent work has included stock status assessment of data limited fisheries in Victoria, Australia, analysis of a broad range of invertebrate and vertebrate fish stocks in the Bohai and Yellow Seas in China, and fisheries ecology studies in Lithuania. Particular focus is on the substantial changes in environmental drivers that are causing shifts in biological processes, population dynamics, ecological interactions, and are exacerbating threats to sustainability from reluctance to adequately reduce exploitation.
