MissClaire Zhoumei Yan

I am a newly appointed Nursing Lecturer at Deakin University Waterfront Campus and a recent PhD graduate from the University of Wollongong (UOW), bringing together over a decade of clinical, research, and teaching experience across Australia and China. My doctoral research was focused on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the SPREMON intervention: a novel, evidence-based mealtime program integrating Spaced Retrieval and Montessori-based activities for people living with dementia in nursing homes. This work reflects my commitment to translating research into meaningful, person-centred care and evidence-based practice improvements for vulnerable populations.

I bring over four years of specialised clinical experience in nephrology nursing in China, where I developed strong expertise in renal care, patient monitoring, and complex disease management. Following my relocation to Australia, I further broadened my clinical scope through a nursing home facility in NSW, gaining hands-on experience in person-centred care for older adults with diverse and often complex needs. This combination of acute specialty nursing and aged care practice has equipped me with a versatile, well-rounded clinical foundation. I am committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care across a range of healthcare settings.
