RESEARCH INTERESTS
Cathys research interests lie mainly in the economic evaluation of mental
health and psychosocial care. This includes both undertaking full economic
evaluations of services and interventions (both trial based and modelled
economic evaluations), priority-setting studies (where mutliple interventions
are compared within a single study context) as well as focusing on specific
methodological issues for economic evaluation of mental health care. For
example she is the lead chief investigator on a project evaluating the use of
preference-based health related quality of life ,easures in children and
adolescents with mental health problems.
She also has considerable experience in the economics of stroke care where she
was instrumental in developing the Model of Resource Utilisation Costs and
Outcomes (MORUCOS) for the National Stroke Foundation and has also worked in
the assessment of new health technologies (particularly MRI). Cathy has had
experience conducting health program evaluation and research, particularly in
the field of mental health.
