BIO

Dr. Lata Satyen is an Associate Professor in Psychology and a Registered Psychologist. She is the Founding Co-convenor of the Deakin Network Against Gendered Violence (DNAGV) and the Deakin Recovery and Healing Lab. She is also the Victorian State Lead of the Australian Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Recovery Alliance. Her research focuses on addressing prevention, intervention and recovery programs to support women, children and people from the LGBTQ+ community after family, domestic and sexual violence. In her role as a pro-bono psychologist, she assists victim-survivors of family violence while working with the gamut of services involved in victim and child protection including the family and magistrates' courts, the medical system, immigration review systems, country consulates, legal professionals, health service providers and local Councils. She provides expert testimony in the Family and Magistrates' Courts. She has won multiple awards for her work. Lata's goal is to enable a society to live harmoniously and free from violence.
