TEACHING EXPERTISE
Associate Professor Liem's teaching is guided by the belief that students learn most effectively when they actively engage with authentic industry, research, and international experiences. His educational approach integrates evidence-based teaching practices, student partnership, and experiential learning to prepare graduates for increasingly complex professional environments.
A key focus of his teaching is creating learning experiences that connect theory with practice. Through immersive international study tours, industry-engaged projects, co-curricular programs, and research-integrated learning activities, he enables students to apply disciplinary knowledge in real-world contexts while developing professional skills, cultural capability, and career readiness.
His scholarship of teaching emphasises the role of peer learning, mentoring, feedback, and belonging in student success. He has led initiatives examining peer support across the student lifecycle and has contributed to the design of programs that enhance student engagement, wellbeing, transition, retention, and academic achievement.
Associate Professor Liem is particularly interested in how universities can create inclusive learning environments that empower students to become active contributors to their own learning and professional development. His work seeks to bridge the gap between higher education, research, and industry, ensuring graduates are well prepared to make meaningful contributions to the food, nutrition, and health sectors.
