RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr Kotzmann is interested in partnering with international organisations, government bodies, universities and nonprofit organisations to explore how law and governance systems can better respond to the interests and welfare of animals. Her research examines animal sentience, legal recognition and the human-centred assumptions embedded within legal frameworks, as well as the role of law and governance in addressing interconnected animal, human health and environmental challenges through a One Health approach.
