TEACHING EXPERTISE
Kerryn's teaching philosophy is grounded in authentic, evidence-informed learning that prepares graduates for contemporary clinical practice. She aims to develop reflective practitioners who integrate clinical expertise with professionalism, ethical practice and population health perspectives to deliver high-quality patient care.
Kerryn's teaching expertise includes ocular therapeutics, quality use of medicines, public health and epidemiology, evidence-based practice, ethics and professionalism, and clinical placement education. She has led curriculum renewal across the optometry program by embedding contemporary clinical guidelines, prescribing principles, medical informatics and public health into learning and assessment.
Kerryn's curriculum leadership has strengthened vertical integration across the course through redevelopment of problem-based learning cases, authentic prescribing and Quality Use of Medicines assessment, and clinically relevant placement experiences. These initiatives have enhanced student preparedness for practice and ensured graduates are equipped to deliver safe, evidence-based and patient-centred eye care.
