RESEARCH INTERESTS
The current focuses of my team are (1) to create effective antimicrobials that address the challenges of antibiotic-resistance through materials innovation and (2) to contribute to waste reduction and a circular economy by developing cost-effective methods to up-recycling textile waste in particular those contain synthetic fibres.
For antimicrobials, our interest is novel nanoparticle-assisted delivery and resistance-breaking antimicrobials and stimuli-responsive antimicrobial hydrogels with multiple modes of bacterial treatment.
For textile waste recycling, we are interested in catalytic depolymerisation of synthetic fibres.
My Current research focus:
(1) Recycling/upcycling synthetic textile wastes.
(2) Supramolecular assembly: stimuli-responsive hydrogels for antimicrobial and wound healing applications.
(3) Multifunctional nanoparticles for antimicrobial applications.
