BIO

Katie is Associate Head of School (Teaching and Learning – Food, Nutrition and Dietetics) within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. In this role, she provides academic leadership across Deakin’s undergraduate nutrition science, postgraduate human nutrition and dietetics programs.

 

Katie has extensive experience in nutrition teaching and curriculum leadership. She served as Course Director of the Bachelor of Nutrition Science suite of courses from 2019 to 2024 and previously held Acting and Deputy Course Director roles from 2017 to 2019. She has also coordinated Deakin's largest first-year nutrition unit, along with several core units across undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition courses.

 

As a nutrition scientist, Katie has successfully supervised 19 research students to completion and currently supervises two PhD candidates, collaborating with multidisciplinary supervisory teams across the School, the University and international institutions. She is a Registered Nutritionist and a founding member of the Special Interest Group for Nutrition Education & Tertiary Teaching (SIGNETT) within the Nutrition Society of Australia.
