RESEARCH INTERESTS
* Characterisation of industrial systems (complex, stochastic, dynamic)
* Event-based simulation modelling methodology and practice
* Data driven prediction and forecasting
* Robust optimisation, sequencing and scheduling
* Visualisation and haptics for decision support in complex environments
* Emulation and intelligent control
Knowledge Areas
* Agent-based modelling and simulation
* Computational intelligence and learning algorithms
* Systems thinking and quantitative analytics
* Modelling complex systems
* Uncertainty quantification (including the creation of advanced prediction interval quantification techniques)
* Development of decision support systems deployed across multiple sectors and industries.
Projects
Prof. Creighton's projects with commercial outcomes, include:
* StickE is a unique, online technology to enable users to build, merge, explore, analyse and share systems maps with collaborators and stakeholders. In the last 5 years it has been licenced to use by more than 2,000 individuals and research organisations, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), Community-based trials of improving child health in 50 communities in Australia and 30 countries worldwide, EU trials in national health policy in Poland, Portugal, Spain, UK, Norway and the Netherlands, as well as us in South Africa, Canada, the US, and NZ. Use case examples childhood obesity, unhealthy eating, accessibility, mental health, rail, water, energy, sustainable infrastructure and engineering research such as the impacts and unintended consequences of autonomy.
