Jamie Tait

I am a lecturer in Exercise and Sport Science at Deakin University, where I lead large core units in the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science. I focus on creating engaging, evidence-based learning environments that inspire students, and these efforts have led to exceptional student evaluations and improved career prospects. I am also the Deputy Course Director for the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science, Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science/Bachelor of Business (Sport Management) and Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science/Bachelor of Nutrition Science. Additioanlyl, I am the Major Leader for the 'Exercise Science' major within the Bachelor of Health Sciences (H300). I supervise Higher Degree by Research students and have successfully supervised Honours students to achieve excellent outcomes. As a member of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, my research explores the impact of ageing and chronic conditions on cognitive performance, well-being, and inflammatory biomarkers, highlighting the transformative benefits of exercise. My work spans diverse populations, including older adults, clinical patients, and military personnel, and I actively disseminate my findings through publications and presentations (public and scientific). I am also a member of the Physical Activity and Nutrition for Cognitive and Mental Health (IPAN) research group, which focuses on informing and developing optimal nutrition and physical activity strategies to optimise mental health and cognitive function across the lifespan.
