TEACHING EXPERTISE
I have extensive experience supporting students in digital literacies development and learning within curriculum. In previous Deakin roles, I was tasked with identifying and leading innovative digital teaching and learning initiatives for Deakin Library. Conceptualising, designing and coordinating learning programs for community was also the focus of my career in local government and public libraries.
In partnership with Education academics and Deakin Learning Futures, I co-led an award winning Transition and Transformation curriculum redesign project over 2019-2021 that focused on belonging and a triad of literacies: discipline, digital and academic skills. This work grounded my co-creation with Naomi David of a Peopling Technologies educational model, an approach then fruitfully used by myself and the project team to design a professional learning program to support progression in teacher knowledge and inquiry to inform practice. My expertise in supporting student learning and teaching staff capabilities was recognised in a 2022 Vice-Chancellor’s Award in relation to an Active Reading Guide and Unit Readings Framework project.
