DrBrandi Fox

Dr Brandi Fox (she/her) is a Lecturer in the School of Education and living and working on unceded Wurundjeri Country in Naarm (Melbourne). As an experienced teaching and research academic, she is committed to transformative praxis for social justice spanning the related fields of intercultural understanding, anti-racism and diversity, culturally responsive and Indigenous pedagogies, teacher education, education and teaching policy, collaborative autoethnography, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Internationally, her work has been cited in over 30 countries and presented overseas, to educators and policymakers spanning five continents. It is published in high-ranking journals, eight in top 10% journals (CiteScore), with 664 citations from 32 publications, 22 peer reviewed publications with four ranked in the top 10% most cited worldwide (SciVal), with an h-index of 11 (July 2026, Google Scholar). Nationally, her research has been recognised by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and the Department of Education, who commissioned her work informing the Intercultural Capability.

Brandi currently co-Leads Deakin's Diversity Responsive Teaching : An inquiry-led professional learning program through the Professional Learning Hub, in collaboration with colleagues from SoE, NIKERI, REDI and James Cook University.

As Course Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts Education Major she oversees ten units, five that are mapped directly to the Master of Teaching and reaching approximately 1,400 students across the Faculty of Arts and Education.

Brandi’s approach to teaching, research and service to the university are intertwined with her commitment to education for social justice and equity, ensuring students are central in their learning. Her curriculum and research leadership has delivered measurable outcomes increasing student satisfaction and experience and has been recognised through a Faculty Award for Curriculum Innovation Based on Scholarly and Practice-Based Research in Teaching and Learning in 2024. 

Brandi's commitment to academia centres on the relational work with her students and collegues. These are the impact resonates accross university borders, into classrooms, schools, communities and beyond.

When she is not working she can be found walking her dog, cuddling her cat, swimming in the ocean, or in her garden, and always with her family and friends.
