RESEARCH INTERESTS

Brandi has over fifteen years of experience in research focused on education and social justice, across multiple higher education institutions. In primary and secondary education and schooling this includes, anti-racism and cultural diversity, intercultural understanding, the health effects of racism, and education policy. In higher education, her focus on is on collaborative methods exploring educator identities and transformative praxis and student experience, embedded in the scholarship of teaching and learning. 


Her research is nationally and internationally recognised, cited in over 30 countries, published in high-ranking journals with eight in top 10% journals (CiteScore), 664 citations from 32 publications, 22 peer reviewed publications with four ranked in the top 10% most cited worldwide (SciVal), and an h-index of 11 (July 2026, Google Scholar).


Brandi has a strong background in qualitative research and designing and leading collaborative research projects. Her current research focuses on educators in higher education. These include: 

 

  • A collaborative approach to successful unit redesign for blended teaching and learning in Education (HAE-23-140 2022 – 2025)

  • Fostering social justice through transformative praxis in undergraduate initial teacher education (DUHREC 2024-0342023 – ongoing)

  • How Education Focused Academics resist, navigate and transform institutional structures (2025/HE001405, 2025 – ongoing) 

  • Diversity responsive teaching (2026/HE000709, 2026 – ongoing)


Each projects incorporates capacity building through collaboration and mentorship for research, teaching and service, building a program of research on the scholarship of teaching and learning.


Brandi is an active member of the Centre for Research for Educational Impact (REDI) and the Centre for Regenerating Futures, focusing on social justice and diversity and decolonising practices.
