RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research expertise is in sustainability assessment methodologies with a focus on national and global sustainable food systems in the context of a changing climate. I have a strong publication and citation trajectory, with over 70 peer-reviewed publications (the majority as lead, second or last author), around 4,000 citations (3,237 since 2019) and an h-index of 30[1]. I regularly publish in peer-reviewed journals with excellent reputations in environmental sustainability, including Nature Food, One Earth, The Lancet Planetary Health, Global Environmental Change, Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Cleaner Production, Global Food Security, and Ecological Economics. I was awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Mid-Career Researcher Award in 2023 for my outstanding contribution to research and innovation relative to career stage.
I have secured over $4.5 million in research funding as a chief investigator. This includes my current roles in the NHMRC “Healthy Food, Healthy People, Healthy Planet” Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) (2021-2026, $2.5M), where I lead a project developing a life cycle assessment methodology to estimate the environmental impacts of packaged foods, and on the Land Use Futures project (2019-ongoing, $1.5M) where I lead the development of a food demand forecasting model for Australia.
