DrElena George

Dr Elena George is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and Course Director of the Master of Dietetics at Deakin University.

She is ranked in the top 0.3% globally for diet research (top 2% for nutrition therapy and Mediterranean diet) and is Australia’s leading dietitian in fatty liver disease. Her research program focuses on translating dietary science into practice to improve the prevention and management of chronic diseases, with a particular emphasis on metabolic liver disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and lifestyle management in people receiving GLP-1RA. 

Her experience is grounded by >10 years in private practice and the clinical research settings as a practising dietitian. She pioneers culturally responsive and practical dietary interventions, widely adopted internationally, and integrates dietary strategies with broader lifestyle approaches.

Dr George is committed to strengthening evidence‑based dietetic practice while addressing workforce challenges through scalable, protocolised interventions that can be delivered by a range of healthcare professionals and across diverse healthcare settings. Her work is underpinned by a strong ethos of equitable access to evidence‑based nutrition.
